"Jay! What did I tell you about running around the pool when it's wet?" Abby scolded her six year old son who immediately stopped running and started walking in a more sedated pace. At least until his mother looked away and then he was running again. Of course she noticed and simply sighed before making a mental note to get him back later. If she wasn't seven months pregnant with her second child she might have been more up to chasing after him or really getting him to stop but she just didn't have the energy right now. Instead she stayed lounged on the chair by the pool enjoying the breeze on a warm day while the smell of grilling burgers reached her. Her stomach growled and she turned her head to look at her husband not too far away where he stood over a grill making them dinner.

"Please tell me those are almost done, I'm starving." Then again when wasn't she starving? That was one thing that hadn't changed in all the years they had been together. She could still eat him under the bus and not have to worry about working out to keep the weight off. Even the baby weight she gained was quickly lost and she had her power to thank for it. A power that had grown exponentially. She could now open a portal anywhere without first needing to see a picture of it and she could go much longer distances in one jump. She would still get tired but not as badly as when she was younger - meaning she didn't need to pass out immediately after a portal but soon after would be a good idea. Anthony had made the same kind of leaps in his power as well which she knew he would. He didn't lose control of it in his sleep which made cuddling with him easier since he could, you know, actually sleep - though she knew it was still a fear of his. She always thought he slept better after she 'wore him out' which was exactly how they ended up with little Jay a bit sooner than they both probably would have wanted but she didn't regret any of it.

Of course that time when he got injured had been rough but with the help of Haven and her own stubbornness they had gotten him both clean and sober and back on the right track. While he might not have gotten to play professional football he at least worked in the sports field so that was good, actually they were both in fields they loved. Even though she hadn't really gone to school for it she had landed a job as a chef shortly after little Jay was born and had then worked her way quickly through the ranks - which had been in part thanks to Anthony's support and teamwork raising little Jay - and eventually opened her own diner in town that was quite popular. She liked the quasi freedom of running her own place and to avoid the parts she didn't like (like payroll and accounting) she hired people to do it for her. Seriously, her life was just about perfect. It was also nice that her brother and sister were close enough in age to play with little Jay whenever her parents came over for dinner or holidays. Of course she and Haven had play dates all the time which was nice - that woman was still scary as hell though, even Little Jay behaved when grandma Haven was around.

There was a giant splash as Jay jumped back into the pool and Abby waited for him to surface. When he didn't she sighed and struggled up to her feet to walk, er, waddle to the edge and look down. She wasn't worried about her son, he had come into his powers a little over a year ago, and if he hadn't surfaced he had probably....yup, he turned into a fish, some kind of tropical looking one, and was happily swimming back and forth, back and forth.

"You know," she stared as she walked over to her husband to hopefully snag a burger if possible, "when people say their kids take to water like a fish, I'm pretty sure they don't mean they actually are a fish." She slipped one arm around Anthony's waist and leaned against him, free hand resting on her rounded belly when it growled again.

Anthony had never thought in a million years that he'd be where he was at today. A beautiful wife. A beautiful little boy and a child on the way. He finally had something his life had lacked for so long. He had a family. Abby's family became his family and he and Abby had made their own family. Even after all he and Abby had been through, she still chose to marry him. He was a lucky guy. He'd never forget that. Hell Haven wouldn't let him forget it if he tried.

Anthony couldn't help but smile when Abby yelled at Jay. He was such an active kid. Definitely couldn't deny that kid at all. There was no doubt that he took after Anthony in a lot of ways. Same blue eyes. Same get his way smile. And he was always active. Up and running around doing something. Abby had gotten a football for him when he was like four. Anthony had been kind of mad at first. He had overreacted. But the football had become one of Jay's favorite toys. And .. Anthony had come to really love playing ball with his son. He wasn't as good as he had been before he wrecked his bike. He couldn't even run around for very long, the brace on his knee was something he needed to walk around. It'd been a part of him since he'd started physical therapy all that time ago. It still hurt some times, but Abby always did her best to make him feel better.

She always did have a hard time keeping her hands off of him. He glanced over his shoulder at her when she spoke up about being starving. She was always starving. But even more so when she was eating for two. She had pretty much perfected her power in the years leading up to now. He was more confident in his as well. He could focus and harness more energy to do more things with his than he thought possible. But controlling it around Abby and their kids was what he always worked on. He was still scared of hurting her but maybe not as much as he used to be. But then again, Abby knew how to make him tired enough to sleep hard. That's how they had wound up with Jay. And then with their second on the way.

Anthony didn't worry when he heard the splash behind him. Abby was there to keep an eye on their son. Besides, the kid had sprouted powers a little over a year ago and he could swim like a .. fish if he wanted to. He seemed to handle his powers better than he ever had. Course Anthony's didn't develope until he was a teen. When he felt Abby's arm around his waist he smiled down at her contently. He leaned down some and kissed her forehead. "Probably not but .. could be worse right?" Some kids at six still needed floaty wings to swim in a pool and not drown. So he figured they were ahead in the whole parenting thing. "These are almost done babe" He let his free hand move to her back and rubbed it a little. He remembered from the last time how she had liked it when he rubbed his warm hands on her sore back.

He had a point that Abby couldn't keep her hands to herself, even after two kids, and she didn't plan on doing so any time soon. Have you looked at her husband? Really she couldn't be blamed for tilting her head back when she knew he was going for her forehead and getting a real kiss instead. She hummed a little at his words and then gave him a little glare. "Clearly he's never turned into a parakeet when you're home alone with him." She spared a glance backwards at the pool as her sons head, his normal head, popped up out of the water and he pulled himself out using the stairs before run- shooing his mother a look - walking back around towards the deep end. "I guess fish isn't so bad when you compare it to that," she spoke absentmindedly as she watched Jay walk with narrowed eyes.

A low groan of pure bliss escaped her as Anthony's warm had caressed her back right where it always hurt most when she was carrying. "God I love you and those wonderful hands of yours," she practically moaned as she leaned into him. "If you keep doing that I don't care when you feed me," a particularly nasty kick from inside of her had her quickly amending that statement. "Well, I wouldn't but this one apparently cares a great deal on when you feed us. See if you can't pull the fish from the pool long enough to get ready to eat." She gave his back side a firm smack and winked up at him as she went inside to gather plates and things to set on the umbrella shaded table on their patio.

Anthony totally didn't mind missing her forehead and getting her lips instead. Damn he loved her. He still had the hotts for her after all this time. Could be why she was pregnant yet again. And he was sure by the time they stopped having kids they'd have a small clan of them. He liked the idea of having a big family as long as Abby was by his side. And that the kids were the product of the best parts of both them.

Yeah he could see where she was coming from. But Jay seemed to have a better handle on his powers than a child his age should. Could be because the kid came from a family full of mutants who know how to control and harness their powers. "Yeah fish is probably the least of our worries" It was hard being a parent and navigating those waters. It was ten times harder doing that with a mutant kid. But for the most part Jay used his own human body for most things.

When she spoke up about his hands he could help but smile. He added a little bit more pressure to help relax the sore muscles. He could multitask, feed her and rub her back at the same time. It was partially his fault she was in this situation again. The least he could do was rub her back for her. Of course, if she could keep her hands off him they might not have any kids at all, between the two of them it was hard to say where life really would be except for right how it had turned out. Which was pretty damn fantastic.

"I think these have just about five more minutes" His smile grew when she smack his butt and then was on her way in to house to get plates and stuff for the table. Anthony closed the grill and turned around to see Jay about to jump in the water again. But he intercepted Jay in mid jump like they had planned it and instead of hitting the water Anthony held him in his arms. After a moment of playful tickling and squirming Anthony put Jay down. "Dry off and go wash your hands for dinner" He turned Jay for the door and sent him off. No one ever had to be told twice to eat around here. Jay had a hearty appetite like his parents did.

Abby snorted as Anthony agreed and she remembered the one time Haven had dropped Viola and Sebastian off for a play date and the next thing Abby knew Jay had turned into a baby elephant and was charging around with his Aunt and Uncle on his back in the back yard. That had been fun to see but at least Jay had napped and napped hard the moment he transformed back and all she had to worry about for another two hours were her brother and sister and given who their mother was that was both nice and irritating though the twins were generally well behaved. THen again so was Jay, he just liked to push the limits of his abilities which was both good and it made her worry a little but that came with being a mother apparently.

"Oh my god," she groaned and was pretty sure she literally melted into him with the extra pressure, "that feels amazing," she purred. It was a good thing Jay was around or her hands may not say where they were, food be damned. Then again Baby number 2 did not share those sentiments and reminded Abby exactly why she was eating twice as much as usual. Clearly the Price family was made up of high metabolism people. Every time she went grocery shopping it was like buying enough food to feed an army and she still had to go more than once every two weeks. "Keep that up and I don't care what this one says," she gestured to her stomach, "I'll be wanting dessert first," she winked up at him but part of her meant the joke.

Just as she was coming back out with plates and utensils Jay rushed by her and again she had to tell him not to run though once he was on the carpet she wasn't so worried. Water and linoleum were not exactly the safest but kids would be kids and he'd learn eventually if he did something to hurt himself, right? Hopefully. Setting the table didn't take long nor did it take Jay long to rush back out and sit himself at the table eagerly waiting for what was sure to look like enough burgers for a party but only three people to devour them.

"Hey, sexy man cooking, them burgers done yet?" she called after sitting herself down and then laughed at the grossed out look her son gave her. "Hey, don't look at me like that, mister, one day you'll find a -"

"Ew, mom, stop, no." Jay begged, even went so far as to cover his ears to drown out anything else she might say about girls or any other 'gross' comments she might make towards his dad.

"Guess I'll hand that talk over to you," she said with a wicked grin towards her husband.

Anthony liked they way she completely just melted at his touch. He was glad to know there was a way to use his powers for pleasure. Abby had never seemed to mind he was such a furnace. Even in the summer when touching him should have been the most uncomfortable thing ever. She really was perfect for him. "Maybe if you want .. I can give you a really good massage after we put our little ball of energy to bed." And by ball of energy he meant their son.

He couldn't help but smile watching Jay run off after he told him to go dry off and wash his hands. Yeah .. any meal around here never had to be forced. Hell the kid even liked all the stuff that was good for him. Which they made sure he got plenty of. Because he sure didn't need to have a ton of sugar. They'd never sleep and neither would he.

He couldn't help but steal glances over his shoulder at Abby while she set the table. Yeah he was still so completely in love with her. He was sure it showed every time he looked at her. He owed Abby his life. She'd saved him from a horrible dark place. She'd given him his whole world. He really looked forward to the time they could sit down and eat meals together. And they did it quite often. Family was something that was important to him. He'd always make sure his knew just how much he loved them.

He flipped each burger one more time making sure they were all nicely cooked and put each one on a plate afterwards. He couldn't help but laugh at the conversation between Abby and Jay. When the grill was empty and the plate was full he closed the lid to the grill and carried the plate to the table and sat it down. He smiled over to Abby and then knelt down next to Jay. He held his fist out to Jay who bumped it with his own fist. Father and son stuff ya know? "Girls have cooties" His eyes glanced at Abby for just a second. "Except for your mom. She's so cool, the cooties never could touch her" He stood from his kneeling position and took a seat in the place Abby had set for him.

"Oh now that sounds like a promise you better keep," she looked up at her husband, her eyes clearly showing him exactly what she planned on doing to him after said massage. Just because she was seven months pregnant didn't mean they couldn't still have some fun, in fact she was pretty sure they would only have to stop their adult fun time when she was further along and they had to play it safe. Even then there were still things they could do; if anyone expected her to keep her hands to herself around her husband they were just insane. Abby and Anthony's relationship was a lot like Jay's, her father not her son, and Haven's. Happy couples all around and having kids didn't change it, that's for sure.

She loved watching Anthony and little Jay together. She knew that when she had told him she was pregnant that first time Anthony had freaked out a little, so had she, but they had figured it out and she was pretty sure all the babysitting for the twins had helped them both prepare for a child of their own - only it was so much easier with one than it was with two she could attest to that. She had no idea how her dad and Haven had managed but she was sure it had something to do with how much the two of them loved each other and a lot of teamwork - something she and Anthony also had. Still, she'd be happy if twins never came to them, that would just be too much for her she was sure. One at a time was just about right and easily dealt with. Though if she wanted to be sure she and Anthony didn't make a football team's worth of kids returning to some sort of regular birth control would probably be a smart idea.

His comment about cooties and girls had her rolling her eyes even though she was grinning. She didn't mind Jay thinking girls had cooties, she would be content with him thinking that for as long as possible, so she didn't try to undermine what Anthony was telling their son. Especially when he said she was too cool for cooties. "Damn right, I'm tougher than cooties ever were." she winked at Jay who giggled and leaned over a bit to kiss Anthony when he sat next to her. "Besides, you dad just loves my cooties." Jay wrinkled his nose at her again in a disgusted way and then promptly started helping himself to the burgers and the fixings she had spread out on the table.

"Good idea, Jay, let's dig in." Then she too started to make her own food, stomach rumbling a little louder now as if it knew food was on the way.

Anthony wasn't in the practice of making promises he couldn't keep. Especially to his wife. If ever ever dared to say the words I promise, he never broke it. Like he'd promised to love her for the rest of their lives no matter what at their wedding. There were times where .. Abby had been rather hard to handle. Pregnancy did that to a girl. But he loved her through it any ways. And the good times they had always out weighed any thing bad they could ever go through. That's how he saw life with Abby. There was always more good days with her than bad days. "I promise" That way she knew she could count on an extra good back massage.

Anthony knew that when she'd gotten pregnant with Jay, that they would be ok. There was nothing but love between the two of them. And they had the support of Haven and Jay (Abby's father Jay not son Jay -- only problem with naming the kid after someone). With the way they were, really there was no way they could fail. Even if at one point in time it looked like life would never be this great. And things were pretty damn great. Sure Anthony would have liked to have a son who didn't shape shift, because that was dangerous. But life could have turned out much worse than the current 'problems' they had to deal with.

When Abby leaned over to kiss him after he sat down in his chair he happily let his lips touch hers. "Absolutely. I love everything about you and all your cooties" Sometimes it was funny to watch Jay's face scrunch up grossed out. That's how he knew just how much in love he and Abby still were. He took a minute to watch his wife and son dig in to the amazingness that he and Abby had made for dinner together. They were a great team at anything they did. But always at the top of the list was how great they cooked together.

Finally he'd fixed himself a plate and dug in. The food was amazing. He knew the chances of left overs were probably slim, and if there were left overs then they wouldn't last long. They spent a lot of money on food but he didn't even care. They both had great jobs. "Maybe after dinner we can throw your ball around some" He knew that meant his leg would hurt more later but his sons excited face and a yes made all that worth it. Maybe Jay would grow up to like football the way he had when he was little. And he knew running around would tire Jay out quicker, which meant he and Abby could get to their alone time faster. Which made him smile and look over at her.
